What Is Employee Onboarding and What Stages Does It Consist Of?
The employee onboarding process is the procedure of introducing a new person to the organization and familiarizing them with the company’s culture and policies so that they can effectively and efficiently perform their duties. One of the essential elements of this procedure is preparing the user’s digital attributes, such as an email account, assigning permissions to network resources, or issuing necessary work equipment.
The OXARI system includes ready-made workflows for handling the onboarding process of a new employee and allows for independent modeling of the logic behind the required stages and approvals.
The most common stages of onboarding include:
- creating a user account and placing it in an OU – the process usually begins in the HR department
- creating an email account
- assigning permissions to company systems and network resources
- issuing computer equipment, a phone, and a SIM card
- implementing established security policies
- providing required regulations and documentation
For each of the above steps, you can define the number of intermediate stages (such as approval by a supervisor, Data Protection Officer, or Management Board) and configure acceptance rules. An additional benefit of system-based onboarding management in OXARI Asset Management is a complete record of approval history, permission validity dates, and a list of issued equipment assets. Furthermore, integration with the Service Desk system can significantly streamline the handling of technical requests, which is extremely important in the first days of a new employee’s work.
